Dear all,
For those planning to go to tomorrow's Art Crawl, this information
just in thanks to Kate Tabor...
In lieu of Acoustiguides for "The American Evolution" exhibition, the
Corcoran uses cell phones. Some significant works of art are given a
phone number that is listed beside the work. Use your cell phone to
call this number and you will hear commentary from a curator or
other knowledgeable person about the work. So take your cell phone
if you have one. If not perhaps a friend will share.
Saturday 14 June
Explorers’ Art Crawl
Parishioners and friends will visit the Corcoran Gallery of Arts’s
“The American Evolution: A History through Art.” This exhibit
features over 200 objects from the Corcoran’s collection of American
art, from Gilbert Stuart’s portrait of George Washington to Andy
Worhol’s irreverent 1973 likeness of Mao Zedong. We will meet in
front of the Corcoran, 500 17th Street NW at 11 am. The Corcoran is
within a few blocks of both the Farragut West and Farragut North
metros. There should also be metered parking available on Saturday.
See more about the exhibit and directions at this website: http://
www.corcoran.org/americanevolution/introduction.htm
RSVP: Jane at stjohnsgeorgetown.org so we have an idea of who will be
coming.
