Dear Parishioners:
 
It is finally time for the vestry to name a search committee for selection of our next rector.  We would like to solicit parishioners who might be interested in joining this endeavor to put forward his/her name for consideration.  I want to thank each of you in advance for considering this opportunity to help our parish.  I wish we could select all interested parties for the committee, but that will not be possible as we hope to keep the committee between 7-9 members.  
 
The vestry is hoping to put together a committee that will represent both congregations and reflect our great diversity.  Additionally, we are looking for people who understand and represent the myriad of ministries of our church.  The members of this committee will agree to observe confidentiality at all times.  The first task for the Search committee members will be to write the parish profile.  This task will be an opportunity to represent in writing the growth in numbers and scope we have experienced since the last profile was written over 10 years ago.  The survey that the strategic planning committee completed two years ago may serve as a starting point for this exercise.
 
After the profile is completed and submitted to the Bishop, the deployment office will send the search committee a list of names from which the committee may choose to interview.  When Canon Mary Sulerud met with the Vestry last Monday evening, she suggested that the committee move straight to visiting candidates at their current parishes since we have elected to use the "limited search process" outlined in the Bishop's Transition Guidelines.  These guidelines are available online at www.edow.org or can be obtained from our church office.  The vestry hopes we can complete this entire process and install a new rector on or about June 8th, the day of Bishop Chane's visitation to St. John's.
